DTG
Direct to Garment Printing (DTG) is a method of printing similar to an inkjet printer which applies a design directly onto fabric. It's that easy!
Pros
No Minimum Order: DTG is perfect for one-offs or small quantities. They are also a great way to test out the waters without committing to purchasing large quantities.
Complex Designs: When you have intricate designs or multiple colors, such as photos, DTG provides a more cost efficient option than screen printing which is priced per color.
Speed: One of the benefits of DTG is the ability to print-on-demand.
Consistency: DTG offers a higher consistency with less room for variables than screen printing.
Cons
Pricing: Because DTG can only do one garment at a time, the starting price for DTG is a little more expensive than screen printing. However depending on the complexity of the design and the quantities required, it could end up being more cost effective.
Vibrancy: DTG offers excellent quality, screen printing holds a slight edge when it comes to vibrancy. This is due to the ability to color match, whereas DTG relies on the CMYK color model which uses four colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) to approximate hues
Fabric Selection and Color: Because of the process, DTG isn't recommended for all colors and fabrics. The ideal color and fabric for a DTG printed garment is white on 100% Cotton. Ultimately the item should be mostly cotton and while we are able to print on dark colors, the colors may not be as vibrant as on a lighter colored garment.
Design Placement: With DTG design placements are limited to front, back and standard sleeve placement only.
